This case is equivalent to putting your ipod touch (2nd or 3rd generation) into a see-through safe. The see-through safe will protect your ipod touch from all harm, but you won't be able to access the touch screen itself. You know, the touch screen that gives you access to all of the controls to play all the media content, select applications, etc. The whole reason you spent hundreds of dollars for an ipod touch.
If you want a case that protects the unit from everything including you...buy this case.

The case is exactly what I expected in terms of quality, design, and materials (yes this is metal...not sure what the other reviewer is talking about). This case allows me to easily carry the iPod in my pocket, throw into the glove box, toss in a drawer; all without worrying or placing in a special case. I also like using this case when watching long videos because it lets me handle the iPod without accidentally touching the screen.
2 things I don't like: (1) The top allows the iPod to be pushed out (such as when plugging in the earphones). My suggestion would be for a second clasp to be added to the top of the case so that the iPod is secured inside. The clasp could be loose against the other side for ease of opening, but would look functional as a clasp and serve to keep the iPod secured in the case. (2) The soft material inside the case works fine now, but I'm not sure how resilient it will be over time. If the material inside the case comes out or gets damaged then I'm concerned the metal case will scratch the iPod. It does not bother me because it will certainly last just as long as any other case for the same price, but will protect better during that time.
OVERALL: For less that $20 this is a terrific case. It protects well and the design is more than acceptable.

As stated in the title, a very unique product. I purchased it without reading the only review, attracted by the "metal" aspect. Sure enough I viewed the first review after receiving the product, and he's absolutely right.The screen is blocked by a "Plexiglas" screen. Therefore the only thing you can do with the device is look at it, and admire it. Otherwise the construction quality, materials, and fell are all very good.
Solution to the screen issue- as long as you're comfortable with voiding your warranty, just remove the screen and replace the felt lining. Works for me, now I'm completely satisfied.
