| | Description | The Jabsco ''Porta Quick'' Oil Changer gives you quick, easy, and clean oil changes at the flip of a switch. It removes oil and sludge through the dip stick tube making engine oil changes quick and easy without getting under the engine. The oil changer is supplied with both a 1/4'' x 40'' dipstick probe and a female garden hose connector to attach the suction hose directly to the dipstick tubes supplied with male garden hose threads. The reversible pump allows the 14 quart container to be emptied neatly and easily by reversing the flow direction and pumping the container dry. A retractable pouring spout is also provided if it is not desirable to use the pump for emptying. The 12V motor comes with an 8' cord with alligator clips. | |

This oil changer has work quite well compared to the others I have tried including small electric pumps and hand operated. I have a sailboat marine desiel engine that only holds about 4 quarts of oil, so this is a bit overkill, but it made my oil changing mere minutes!
Thus far it appears well made and very effective. My one complaint is the "clamps" required to connect the tubing together are plastic and weak. I ended up using stainless hose clamps which worked much better.
All-in-all I would recomment this product for anyone spending any amount of time changing oil in a marine situation.

In terms of pure suction of the oil it did a great job.
However, I found the suction hose provided in the box to be too short. Also, the gizmo they put to attach the 2 hoses is a cheap choice. It really doesnt take much to put a secure coupler to attach two hoses together and we shouldnt have to do that oursleves after paying almost $200 for this item, the poor connection of the two hoses caused loss of suction.
Also a minor point, there was no comprehensive direction flow on the switch i almost had the oil squirt all over my face by flicking the switch in the wrong direction.

Jabsco oil changer works great. I removed about 10 qts of oil in my boat in about 12minutes and I didn't run the engine to warm the oil first. Make sure to move the hose around in the drip pan as much as possible to get out all the oil. The only improvement to consider is adding a longer hose.

I've only used this once, but it did an outstanding job!
It sucked the oil pan dry in less than 5 minutes (probably closer to 3 minutes than it was to 5).
I crawled under the car and pulled the drain plugg just to see how well it did, 3 drops; yes 3 drops is what came out!
Next task this little pump will be a transmission fluid change.

This oil changer does work well, does not leak, and in reverse empties out the bucket so you never have to touch the oil. The only problem is that it does not work too fast even if the oil is warm. It took about 2 hours to remove 6.5 quarts of oil from my car. Still it is great for simple oil changes.
