Better than nothing May 05, 2009

I bought this for my iPod Touch. I wanted a headset with a microphone so that I could use the iTouch as a VoIP endpoint, and as a voice recorder for field notes.
The first set I received did not have a functional microphone, and there was static when cord was moved. Clearly it was a bad unit, and the seller promptly sent me a new one without requiring a return of the bad unit.
The second unit works, but I would not say the audio quality is great; it certainly isn't as good as the earbuds that came with the Touch. When I've used it for voice calls, the other person has said the sound is at least somewhat muffled.
As a general headset for listening to music, I find the frequency range to be a bit compressed and lacking in dynamics. It's not awful, and with the proper inserts the seal in the ear isn't too bad. But I doubt that it competes with headsets from Shure, Etymotic, Sennheiser, etc. Of course, that's not to be expected given the ridiculously low price of this set. But you DO get what you pay for, so I'll be upgrading and using these as a spare.

These things don't even work with my ipod touch 2nd gen. They also fall out of ears and break easily. Oh yes, did I mention that they sound like sandpaper rubbing a trash can?
