This is a GREAT product and worth the investment. It covers your port holes to protect from water/liquid damage.
I love that the silicone outside cover won't slip out of my hands easily like the hard plastic covers.
The two layer protection is a little bulk - but not that much. I tell everyone they need this protection!

I bought the Otterbox to protect a new Iphone in my backpack. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and it works great. For as much protection as it gives it does not seem to affect the functionality at all. It does add some bulk, but still fits well in my pocket.
For full disclosure, I did make one modification. I removed the clear, permanent screen protector (then used some paint thinner to remove the glue that held it in) and use a replacable screen protector directly on my Iphone. This way I can use the Iphone out of the Otterbox and still have the screen protector.
One surprise, to me, was how well the protected buttons work while in the Otterbox. They, at first, seemed like they would be hard to make work (another case I have causes continual problems withe off/on button). The Otterbox worked great.
I would highly recommend. (note: I do not use the belt clip or hard clip-in mount, so have no commments on that)

Belt Clip is terrible. I already drop my phone from my belt 5-6 times. Lost the phone in a snow storm and barely found my phone in the parking lot before someone else. So using the belt is not suggested. Box for the phone is little bulky but very good fit however as i mentioned before using the belt and phone together is risky. Otter box should add a locking system on belt or put a top to down additional mechanism to secure the phone. Otherwise it is good. If i have to buy another iphone protector i wouldn't buy same model.

Love the Otter Box. Same thing is 49.99 at Best Buy. Dropped phone within 24 hours of receiving it and the Otter Box did it's job. If you have an iphone you need an Otter Box.

My first "iPhone experience" was with the 32Gig iPhone 3GS back in December of 2009 when I purchased the device from my local AT&T mobility store in Louisiana. The customer who was before me in line also purchased an iPhone 3G and told the girl working the counter that he was a construction worker and needed a case that would offer maximum protection for the device. The girl recommended the Otterbox, installed it on his new phone, told him that it was the best case she had in the store, and then after "the pitch" came to the price of $50.00. When I heard the price of this case I thought, "My God! There are cell phones that cost less than that!" After the guy left with his new iPhone wrapped in the Otterbox, it was finally my turn to become an iPhone owner. When the girl went to the back of the store to get my handset I surveyed all of the store employees walking around with their iPhones dangling from their hips wrapped in... you guessed it... wrapped in Otterboxes! So instead of just over $300.00, I spent almost $375.00 with the handset, Otterbox, and applicable taxes. The first month that I had my iPhone, I dropped it several times because I was used to carrying my old Motorola Razr and was still really careless in the way I carried a cell phone. The iPhone never got a nick or scratch in the glass or anything. It was worth every penny of the $50.00 I spent on the case. The only complaint I could possibly have with the case was the "bubble" between the plastic screen-shield of the Otterbox and the glass screen of the iPhone it protects. I found that a dash of baby powder on the back of the plastic shield where it touches the iPhone's screen solves the issue wonderfully. Now it's January 2011 and I've gotten an iPhone 4, my mother is the proud owner of my old 3GS and it looks just as new as it did the first day I got it thanks to the Otterbox. I also have the Otterbox for my iPhone 4 and I assure you that I'll have an Otterbox on my iPhone 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and so on. If you have an iPhone (which ever model) and you don't have it wrapped in an Otterbox Defender, you're asking for trouble. Most of the time you can find these cases on Amazon for much less than I paid in the AT&T Store but honestly, this product is one of those where $50.00 is nothing compared to it's "real" value.
